We moved across the world from the east cost of the USA to Japan, brought everything we own, our two mini dachshunds and made it from small town USA to small town Japan. Moving across the world would be a big announcement itself, but we found out Valentines Day weekend that we are also expecting an addition to our family in October of this year!
In the fall of 2020, I decided to stop taking my birth control pills. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to put starting a family into God’s hands and not put hormones into my body everyday. Now, I knew this wasn’t 100% true, but with the whole culture from high school health class and obgyn visits always drilling into my mind ‘you will get pregnant if you are not on some sort of contraceptive.’ To all the women and momma’s… you know that this is not the case.
How we found out:
It had been 3-4 months since stopping the pill and I had an ever so slight feeling that something felt different the week before that time of the month. I kept making jokes to my husband and we ultimately were thinking no way it happened this quickly.
Feb 15th – Sure enough, the morning after valentines day, I decided to take a pregnancy test, and you guys, it was SO faint showing a positive test. So faint, that my husband didn’t believe it haha!
Feb 16th – Took another test, again so insanely faint, but the double line was there
Feb 17th – Same story. faint but still there.
Feb 18th – finally took a different brand test and it validated it being more prominent. At that moment, 4 days later, we did a little excited pregnancy dance! I’ve always seen such cute videos of the woman surprising her husband to tell him with an adorable outfit, balloons etc. I thought I would do that but once it happened, the first instinct was to fun into the other room to tell Diego. Guess I am not a good secret keeper.
We are waiting until birth to find out the gender, the ultimate surprise!
I have started to look for new pieces of clothing to wear throughout the pregnancy, as my clothes seem to be shrinking 😉
A few upcoming things I want to share:
- Top things for pregnancy so far
- clothing during pregnancy
- nursery inspo
